I think this clock may have been a significant and expensive purchase for the original owner, and it's sad that the kids just wanted to get rid of it. Also there was a brass tag engraved and stuck to the pendulum that I removed and gave back. This clock had two that I removed and gave back. Apparently, you could buy sleeves to go around the weights that you could have engraved with important dates and events. ![]() ![]() I have the original owners manual and the owner had written in significant dates, like marriages and births. The sad thing is that the original owner wanted it to be something that was to be handed down to the family members. I don't know when it finally quit working. The seller of the clock said it was never maintained. And as an added bonus, I get to learn how to use it! However, I am in the process of acquiring a complete machine shop. The equipment I have? I have read up on the problems with plated pivots in these movements, but I have also read that the plated pivots went away just before this clock was built. I plan to educate myself before tackling this one, and it will probably just sit until next winter. I am a complete amateur, I've only worked on a couple of Ingraham T&S movements. Glad to know that a replacement movement is available for when I finish doing irreparable damage to this one. I don't really want to go that route, because I kinda bought this thing so I can work on it and get it running myself. The movement seems to be a Hermle, and I see replacements are available for around $400. The clock looses power, it will only run for about 15 min or so. The chimes and hour strike seem to work, although I did have to adjust the hammers a bit.
